This is only the second weekend for Me (Rugby Riley) as part of our match-reporting team, and honestly… this is incredible. What we’re building here at Yate Rugby is something special — energy, pride, and community all wrapped into one. And Riley couldn’t be more excited to be part of the team, bringing you all the action from our brilliant young players!
What a day for the Under 11s!
We had a fantastic turnout, and the team kicked things off with a warm-up that got everyone focused, fired up, and ready to play. You could feel the buzz — every single player excited to get stuck in.
Game 1 – Yate vs Dursley. A slightly slow start with the sun in their eyes and a pitch that wasn’t doing anyone any favours, but Yate knuckled down quickly. Some strong tackles, determined rucking, and real grit saw them grow into the game.
Game 2 – Yate vs Dursley (again!). With a team dropping out, we faced Dursley for the second time but this time Yate came out flying. Great catches, smart positioning, and much sharper organisation across the pitch. A strong performance against a tough side.
Game 3 – Yate vs Thornbury. The final match and the U11s were absolutely fired up. They went in strong, showing brilliant tackling, confident ball-handling, and some superb ripping. This one was a real 50/50 battle — both teams scoring great tries, both pushing hard, and both playing proper rugby. The support play was outstanding, and watching the ball move through hands with confidence was a real highlight.
Riley’s final word?
I'm really proud of how this team bonded, worked hard, and represented Yate Rugby with determination and heart.
A huge thank you to all the players, coaches, and supporters you make days like this unforgettable.
