Facing the league leaders away from home is never an easy task, and this weekend was no different. But this wasn’t about the scoreline this was about growth, belief, and a team beginning to show exactly what they’re capable of 💪
From the first whistle, there was a calm determination about the squad. In the changing room there was alot of excitement for the game! We were ready to go onto the pitch and make Chippenham work for it.
Which we did.
At half-time, the game was neck and neck a huge step forward from our previous meeting with Chippenham. The gap is closing, slowly but surely 👊
🌟 Standout Moment
A special shoutout to Katie for her getting the first try of the game a brilliant moment and thoroughly deserved. One of those moments that lifts the whole team!
💥 Team Performance
What stood out most was the communication and togetherness across the pitch. Players backed each other through every break, every carry, and every defensive set. Even as the game wore on and injuries left us without replacements, the team dug deep and battled right through to the final whistle — no excuses, just effort and heart.
🙌 Player Highlights
Allison put in a huge shift, seamlessly stepping in across both forwards and backs a true all-round performance.
Abbie, leading as Vice Captain, brought constant energy, direction, and encouragement driving standards throughout.
A big mention to Tash on her debut fearless in defence and throwing herself into the game. You’d never have guessed it was her first match!
👏 Respect to the Opposition
Credit to Chippenham, who used their strengths well, particularly in the backs where they capitalised on opportunities. They were also incredibly welcoming hosts and a great example of what the game is about off the pitch as well as on it.
📈 Where We’re Growing
There’s real clarity on what comes next:
Sharpening up at the breakdown quicker Jackling and securing rucks
Improving our starts and kick-off receptions
Building confidence under the high ball across the whole squad
These are coachable, fixable areas and the exciting part is knowing how close we already are.
💬 Final Thoughts
Despite the result, there was a real sense of pride at full-time. We hit hard, we got the basics right, and, most importantly we started to see our training come to life. That’s where the real progress lies.
Massive thanks to the coaches and supporters on the side line — your energy and guidance made a difference throughout 🙌
Three words to sum it up: Hard-hitting. Exciting. Connected.
The score line may not tell our story but our performance does. And this team is only heading one way 🔵🟡
