🏉 U11s Start the Season with a Team Performance

Well, the U11s certainly didn't hang around waiting for the season to get going!

There was a real buzz around the team before kick-off for their first match, and once the whistle went, they got stuck straight in — producing some great tackling, some excellent tries and, most importantly, some fantastic team rugby.

Teamwork from the First Whistle

The standout feature of the match was the way the team worked together.

There was great positioning throughout the game, with the players supporting each other and working hard to find openings and space.

And when those opportunities appeared, the Yate players were ready to take them.

The support play was particularly impressive, with players looking for each other and making themselves available to keep the attacks moving.

That's exactly the kind of rugby you want to see from an U11 team!

First Yate Tries for Edward and Luca! 🎉

There were some brilliant individual moments too.

Edward had a fantastic game on the wing, showing great control and awareness before going over for his first try for Yate.

And he wasn't the only one celebrating a first!

Luca Isaac also crossed for his first Yate try, making it a particularly memorable match for both players.

There was also some excellent kicking from Ollie and Harry, who worked really well together in the 9/10 roles and helped give the team a strong platform to attack from.

Plenty to Build On

Of course, the first game of the season is all about learning as well as performing, and there is plenty for the U11s to take into training.

The team identified rucks as an area where they can continue to improve, while building on the excellent support play and positioning they showed during the match.

If they can combine those areas, there's plenty more to come from this group.

Rugby Values on Show

It wasn't just the rugby that impressed.

Every player showed great sportsmanship, both towards their own teammates and the Whitehall players.

That's an important part of what Yate Rugby is all about — playing hard, enjoying the game and showing respect to everyone involved.

You were amazing as usual, bringing the energy from the sideline and giving the team plenty of encouragement throughout.
