🏉 TRY-LINE TILLY’S MATCH DAY BLOG, U10s THORNBURY TOURNAMENT 🏉

Well hello, rugby family. Try-Line Tilly here, and what a sensational morning of festival rugby we’ve just witnessed from our incredible Under 10s! If you wanted passion, teamwork, grit, and smiles wider than the Severn Bridge… this was the place to be!

From the moment the boots hit the grass, you could feel the buzz. Our U10s arrived fired up, bouncing through their warm-up and shaking off any pre-tournament nerves with a quick team chat. For some of our players, this was their very first taste of tournament rugby — but you would never have known. They stepped out with huge hearts and even bigger determination.

🔥 Game 1 — Straight Out the Blocks!

With only a bare eight players (through holidays), you’d think we might be on the back foot… but absolutely not!

Our defensive line was like a brick wall, shooting up fast and shutting down space brilliantly. The pressure paid off with multiple turnover balls — pure effort, pure teamwork. You could see the boys and girls growing in confidence with every phase. What a start!

💪 Game 2 — Grit Against Thornbury

Next up: a strong and physical Thornbury side who came ready to test us.

But our U10s? They rose to the challenge in style. We’ve been working hard on ripping the ball in the maul, and today… THEY MASTERED IT. Turnovers, quick offloads, and team tries that had the side line cheering loud enough to wake the whole of South Glos. The resilience was unreal, this team does not back down.

✨ Game 3 — Rugby at Its Finest

And then came the magic. Everything clicked. The rugby flowed beautifully.

Offloads into contact? Outstanding. Movement of the ball? Fast, controlled, Intelligent and Team chemistry? Absolutely electric.

This was some of the best attacking rugby we’ve seen from this group. Every single player contributed, every breakdown had purpose, every carry had determination. It was an absolute joy to watch.

A huge Try-Line Tilly thank you to all the parents and supporters! Your positive encouragement fuels these young players more than you know and those smiles after every try, tackle, and turnover prove it. Keep cheering, keep clapping, keep being amazing.

Today wasn’t just about results (although it does help) it was about progression, confidence, and joy. Our U10s came to play, they worked their socks off, and they represented the club with pride.

This team is growing fast, learning fast, and loving every second of it And that’s what rugby is all about.
