From Duke of Edinburgh to Rugby for Life
Tayler’s journey with Yate Rugby Academy began when she was completing her Duke of Edinburgh Award. She joined the club to fulfil her experience section, but little did she know that what started as a short-term commitment would turn into a long-term passion.
"They really supported me whilst I was doing my DofE, and I enjoyed it so much that I decided to continue," she recalls. And continue she has—growing into a fantastic mentor and role model for players across multiple age groups.
Always Learning, Always Growing
Tayler’s dedication to both playing and coaching shines through in everything she does. She doesn’t just bring experience to the players—she also embraces every opportunity to develop her own skills.
"Being part of the team has helped me share my experience and learn new things. I'm growing all the time as a coach and a player," she says. Her willingness to learn, adapt, and lead by example makes her a fantastic asset to the academy.
Memorable Moments That Matter
For Tayler, coaching isn’t just about the game—it’s about the journey. One of her favourite moments? Presenting the end-of-season awards to the players she has helped mentor and develop.
"Getting to give the players their awards at the end of the season meant so much to me," she shares. "Being part of that journey and seeing how far they’ve come is incredible."
But the biggest surprise? When Tayler herself was recognized for her dedication, receiving an award for her outstanding contributions to the club.
"It was completely unexpected, but it just reinforced why I love this club so much."
A Message for New Players
For any young person thinking about joining Yate Rugby Academy, Tayler has some simple but powerful advice:
"Don’t worry—you’re not the only new person. We will go through everything with you. There’s no need to be nervous… we’ve got you. You will enjoy this journey."
