🏉 Rugby Rob Match Day Blog – Yate\Whitehall\Quins U14s vs Keynsham U14s

Sunday morning rugby doesn’t get much better than this one — Yate\Whitehall\Quin's U14s vs Keynsham in a contest that had everything: tackles, teamwork, and true grit.

Right from the first whistle, it was clear this was going to be a proper game of rugby.

Keynsham arrived with a reputation, big squad, slick handling, clinical finishers. However our lads weren’t fazed. They turned up ready to play their game, and what a performance it was.

The final score might have read 19–10 to Keynsham, but the numbers don’t tell the story. What unfolded over the 60 minutes was some of the best rugby this team has played all season. The defensive effort alone was worth the entry fee (if we charged one!). Every player threw themselves into tackles, shut down space, and made life difficult for a well-drilled opposition.

Our scrum and maul work was simply out of this world; dominant, disciplined, and determined. The forwards earned every inch, while the backs showed real courage with line breaks and counter-attacks that had supporters cheering from the side lines. This was a game of inches, and Yate fought for every single one.

What really stood out, though, was the team unity. Everyone put in a shift. Every player backed their mate. Every head stayed high. Against a big, powerful Keynsham side, our lads showed skill, bravery, and heart. All wrapped up in one brilliant display.

At full time, both teams came together in true rugby fashion — shaking hands, smiles all round, and mutual respect that reminded everyone what this game is really about. It wasn’t about who scored the most tries; it was about spirit, effort, and pride in the shirt.

The coaches couldn’t have been prouder. This was a performance that sets a standard, a benchmark for what this group can achieve when they trust their structure, their mates, and themselves.

Keynsham were strong, organised, and clinical and yet, the team made them earn every single point. That says everything about where this side is heading.

So, while the scoreboard didn’t go our way, the message from Rugby Rob is clear: this was one of the best performances yet from our U14s — full of fight, full of passion, and full of promise.

Well played, lads. Keep that fire burning 🔥

Until next time,

💬 Rugby Rob
