🎉 Pucklefest Powers Free Rugby for Local Kids! 🏉💙

What do you get when a passionate pub, a lively local community, and a love for grassroots sport come together?

Well if you were at Pucklefest last weekend you saw...it was a weekend full of music, smiles, and purpose!

Hosted by the amazing team at The Rose and Crown in Pucklechurch, this FREE community event wasn’t just a celebration, it was a powerful act of support for local youth and grassroots rugby.

And we’re so proud (and humbled) to say: Every penny donated over the weekend will go to support FREE Rugby at Yate Rugby Academy! 🙌

🌟 Turning a Chat into a Movement

It all started with a conversation, one of the locals, talking proudly about his two sons and their journey with Yate Rugby Academy.

Inspired by the passion and impact the club had on these boys, the landlady at the Rose and Crown decided there and then:

"This is who we’re supporting this year. We need to support this amazing club."

And just like that, Pucklefest became a fundraiser with a mission, to support FREE rugby for all children, and to help launch the South Gloucester Falcons, our brand-new girls-only rugby team for ages 11-16.

🎶 Community, Connection and a Whole Lot of Fun

From the live bands to the delicious food, from the laughter in the garden to the kids (and some adults) passing a ball around, it was a day that reminded us what community spirit looks like. Families came together, locals cheered each other on, and it all had one goal: Support the future of local rugby.

Thanks to everyone who attended, we can continue to offer:

✅ FREE rugby to children across Yate, Sodbury, Pucklechurch and beyond

✅ Support for girls’ participation in sport through the South Gloucester Falcons

✅ Weekly coaching sessions, festivals, and more—all at no cost to families

🏉 A Club for Everyone – No Fees. No Subs. Just Rugby.

We are blown away by the generosity and heart shown by the Rose and Crown team. Your effort, your belief in what we do, and your desire to invest in the next generation of players means the world.

We’re also proud that more and more children from Pucklechurch and the surrounding area are now pulling on a Yate Rugby Academy shirt, thanks in part to our school network and outreach work.

This is what grassroots rugby is all about. This is community in action.
